ITERP is an international and interdisciplinary network of researchers, practitioners and stakeholders involved in the prevention of radicalisation and violent extremism. They share their knowledge and methods, comparing their different approaches while respecting diverse perspectives. Their objectives are to compare various forms of radicalisation based on specific contexts, measure the effect and impact of prevention programmes, and encourage closer collaboration between research teams, stakeholders and policymakers.

The objective is to develop preventive measures that are better adapted to the contexts and populations being treated, in order to better meet users’ needs and expectations.

ITERP proposes taking a new look at the evaluation of practices not as an externally imposed judgement, but as a way of thinking about, adapting and developing stakeholders’ practices based on populations, their expectations and contexts.

Its specific objective is to promote interdisciplinarity by connecting teams from the health sector, human and social sciences, political science and criminology. ITERP also includes action-research structures working with radicalised people and is engaged in a process of the self-evaluation of their practices, as well as an international network of practitioners. Finally, ITERP works in close collaboration with services for the prevention of violent extremism (PVE) and the counter-radicalisation services (CVE) of several governments. It helps them to identify the most effective prevention programmes and those that present risks. It provides these services with insights into the factors that determine the transition to violent action and those that promote people’s resilience to violence.
